ExpressVPN: features and buying guide
Check the app, the plan and the connection.
Source-based guide. We have not published firsthand tests. Current provider links do not earn commission. How links work.
The short answer
Start with ExpressVPN's documented features, then check the exact plan and app you need. This guide uses provider sources. We have not published firsthand performance tests or assigned a score.
Understand what the provider documents
ExpressVPN describes its Lightway protocol, TrustedServer RAM-only server design, and Internet Kill Switch in its feature documentation. We treat those descriptions as provider claims. They are not results from an independent test by VPN Brief.
Check the installation route
Before subscribing, open the setup guide for your main device. A native app, a browser extension and a router installation are different ways to connect. Check which route supports the features you need and whether your router model is compatible.
Compare the whole plan
Look at the selected tier rather than assuming every advertised feature comes with every subscription. Check the initial charge, renewal amount, supported device allowance, cancellation steps and refund exclusions at checkout.
What we have not measured
There is no firsthand ExpressVPN speed or streaming result on this page. We cannot name it the fastest or easiest option without comparable evidence. If performance is your priority, test the locations you will use at the times you normally connect.
